Akaka falls
The art is called Ikebana and is an art form (yōga) practised mainly in Japan, whose purpose is to bring about a mood of sober meditation through the arrangement of flowers. The term ikebana derives from the words ikeru (生) and hana (花), meaning “live flowers”.
Ikebana was created in the late 13th century by Chinese priest Dōyū, who came to Japan from China with a statue of the Buddha and several sutras. He is said to have been moved to create ikebana after seeing the shape of a certain plant on his ship, which he kept with him ever since.
