The painting here depicts a pineapple, which is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful tropical fruits.
The name ‘pineapple’ was given by European explorers because the fruit’s smell reminds them of pine forests . It is native to Paraguay and Brazil, and has been cultivated in Central America since pre-Columbian times. It is an excellent source of vitamin C, amino acids and bromelain, an enzyme that destroys proteins.
